What I love the most about Sfer Ik and feel that relates to my work is this combination of nature with human beings, and how nature blends into the space, Makoto tells Vogue. Though he’s not planning to andon transient projects completely, the artist sees this as a new phase of his oeuvre that will contribute to a growing and urgent conversation about sustainability. Before, I had been working only with cut flowers, but here a new level of work begins for me, he explains.
